Our Mission & Vision

Called to worship, rooted in community, sent to serve

Our Mission

Why we gather, why we serve

"To be a welcoming house of prayer and sacrament for the Catholic community of Kenosee Lake and Moose Mountain — nurturing a living faith, fostering deep fellowship, and reflecting the beauty of God's creation in all that we do."

Sacred Heart Chapel exists to serve God and neighbor. As a parish of the Estevan Deanery within the Archdiocese of Regina, our mission is lived out every week through the celebration of the Eucharist, the proclamation of the Gospel, and the pastoral care of all who cross our threshold — permanent residents, summer visitors, and pilgrims alike.

Our chapel is more than a building. It is a community of faith woven into the rhythm of Kenosee Lake — present through the joyful summers on the lakeshore and through the quiet, steadfast winters of the Saskatchewan prairie.

The Pillars of Our Mission

Three callings that shape everything we do

Worship at Sacred Heart Chapel

Worship

At the heart of our mission is the celebration of the Eucharist — the source and summit of Catholic life. Every Saturday at 5:00 PM, we gather at the altar to give thanks, receive grace, and renew our covenant with God.

The sacred art of Father Joe Frey transforms our chapel into a living encounter with Christ's Passion, making each Mass a moment where beauty and prayer become one.

Community at Kenosee Lake

Community

We are called to be a genuine family of faith — welcoming the stranger, supporting one another through life's seasons, and building bonds that endure beyond the chapel walls.

From long-time parishioners to first-time visitors arriving at the lake for the summer, every person who walks through our doors is met with belonging.

Service in southeastern Saskatchewan

Service

Faith without works is incomplete. Our mission extends beyond Sunday worship into the everyday lives of our neighbors — responding to need, practicing charity, and witnessing the love of Christ in the wider community of southeastern Saskatchewan.

Connected to the resources of the Archdiocese of Regina, we are never alone in this work.

Our Vision

"A thriving chapel community — alive in faith, united in love, and shining as a light of hope in the heart of Moose Mountain — where every generation finds a spiritual home and every visitor discovers the presence of God."

What We Are Striving Toward

Our vision for the future of Sacred Heart Chapel

Growing Faith

A community where faith is not merely inherited but actively nurtured — through catechesis, prayer groups, and formation opportunities for all ages.

Radical Welcome

A chapel known throughout the region as a place where everyone — regardless of background or season of life — encounters genuine hospitality and God's unconditional love.

Sacred Beauty

Preserving and celebrating the extraordinary sacred art within our walls, ensuring that Father Joe Frey's legacy of beauty continues to draw hearts to God for generations to come.

Rooted in Place

Deepening our identity as a chapel bound to the land and waters of Moose Mountain — caring for creation, honoring the rhythms of this unique resort community, and being a faithful presence year-round.

Living Our Vision Every Day

Our vision is not a distant dream — it is already taking shape in the life of our parish. Each Saturday evening Mass, each Stations of the Cross, each gathering of parishioners old and new is a living expression of what we believe God is calling Sacred Heart Chapel to become.

We look ahead with hope, trusting that the same Spirit who has guided this chapel for decades continues to lead us forward — into deeper worship, wider welcome, and more faithful service.

If you feel drawn to be part of this vision, we invite you to join us. Whether you are a lifelong Catholic or simply searching, there is a place for you at Sacred Heart.
